MP Zareer Says Muizzu Government Conducting Foreign Policy Without Discrimination

MP for Maafannu constituency Hassan Zareer has stated that the government of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is conducting foreign relations without discrimination with all countries, establishing a robust foreign policy framework. Speaking during the initial debate on the bill concerning diplomatic missions, consular posts, and privileges of international organisations in the Maldives, Zareer noted that unlike previous administrations that favoured certain nations over others, the current government is engaging with all continents equally. He highlighted that this approach has led to unprecedented international trust and large investments in the Maldives. The bill aims to set a solid legal framework under international treaties the Maldives has ratified, defining privileges for diplomatic missions and consular officers, including tax exemptions on personal goods.
