MTCC Expands Male’ Taxi Line App to Android for Greater Male’ Residents

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has expanded the accessibility of its “Male’ Taxi Line” mobile application, launching the service on Android devices via the Google Play Store. Previously exclusive to iOS users, the app is now available to a wider demographic of smartphone owners across the Greater Male’ region. The application is designed to modernize urban travel for both residents and tourists by simplifying the booking process. Users can secure a ride with a few taps or schedule trips at least three hours in advance. To streamline transactions, the app integrates multiple payment options, including a digital wallet, secure credit and debit card gateways, and a “Scan and Pay” QR feature. Additionally, a comprehensive trip log allows passengers to track their travel history and upcoming bookings. Prioritizing passenger security, the app includes several safety-centric tools. An integrated emergency button allows users to alert authorities instantly during a crisis. To protect privacy, a dedicated call-and-text function enables direct communication between passengers and drivers without disclosing personal phone numbers. The platform also features a reporting system for lost items, facilitating the quick retrieval of belongings left in vehicles. Beyond digital convenience, the service emphasizes environmental sustainability. MTCC operates the Male’ Taxi Line using a fleet of electric taxis, aligning with national goals to create a more eco-conscious and reliable transportation network in the capital. MTCC stated that this expansion is part of a broader effort to bolster the nation’s transport infrastructure. The company plans to introduce further updates to the application to enhance user experience and functionality.
