The Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) officially inaugurated its new 10-storey office building in Hulhumalé Phase 1 this evening. The building, named the 'MTDC Office Complex', is constructed on a land area of 6,194 square feet and includes a basement parking lot, three lifts, and a convention hall, with glass facades covering the exterior. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, MTDC Managing Director Haris Mohamed said the new tower creates the company's third permanent revenue-generating building. He stated that the board and management are working to construct additional revenue-generating resources, with plans to build a similar building in the Malé area in the near future. Mohamed emphasised that increasing revenue through such investments is a primary goal, which will ultimately benefit MTDC shareholders. The land use agreement with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) was signed on May 30, 2022, and the foundation stone was laid on February 8, 2023.
