The Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has entered into a formal agreement with the Maumoon Foundation to expand access to higher education for Maldivian students. The partnership aims to foster the growth of skilled professionals within the country by removing financial barriers to advanced study.
The agreement was signed by MWSC Managing Director Hussain Fahmy and Maumoon Foundation Vice Chairman Faris Maumoon. This collaboration is a core component of MWSC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, reflecting the company's commitment to investing in the Maldives' intellectual and professional capital.
As part of the initial phase of this agreement, a scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a master’s degree program at the Maldives National University (MNU). By targeting postgraduate education, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap in specialized expertise required to drive national development.
The Maumoon Foundation, established by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, focuses on community development and social welfare. Through this partnership, the foundation leverages its experience in social work to ensure that educational opportunities reach those capable of contributing meaningfully to the nation's progress.
This initiative marks a strategic alignment between a state-owned utility company and a prominent social foundation, highlighting a shared goal of empowering the youth through academic excellence.
