National Health Program 'Hashiheyo Raajje' Provides Crucial Training for Sports Counselors
Health ·
The Maldives' national health program "Hashiheyo Raajje" (Healthy Maldives), launched by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has commenced important training sessions for sports counselors from across the country. The three-day event, held from the 22nd to the 24th of this month in Malé, includes 15 atolls and features both theoretical and practical components guided by experts.
Under the program, sports counselors receive sessions on anti-doping awareness in collaboration with the Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency, as well as education on the dangers of tobacco in partnership with the Health Protection Agency (HPA). Practical training covers exercises in the sea, use of indoor and outdoor gym equipment (including sessions with Veer Gym), and guidance on organizing fitness programs in their home islands using available resources.
The program initially started in Malé and now covers the entire country. Participants include sports counselors from the atolls of HA, HDh, Lh, Sh, K, AA, ADh, V, M, F, Dh, Th, L, Gn, and Addu City, comprising both civil and political employees. The Director of the Ministry of Sport, Shiuna Khalid, told PSM News that the sessions have provided valuable information that is often unknown, such as the harms of unintentionally using banned supplements in sports.
