National Shooting Championship entry deadline extended to October 25
Sports ·
The Shooting Association of Maldives has extended the deadline for participation in this year's National Shooting Sports Championship to October 25.
The association told Sun that the extension followed requests from a large number of members of the public. The deadline to submit participation forms was previously set for October 5.
The championship is scheduled to be held at Hulhumale' Sports Range and is set to begin on November 1. Training sessions at Male' Shooting Range and Hulhumale' Shooting Range are already ongoing.
This year's event is historic and special because an entirely new Paralympic category has been included. This is also a notable development in the history of shooting in the Maldives.
The main categories in the championship are professional, junior, youth, Paralympic and amateur.
Events will be held in Air Rifle and Air Pistol, with women's, men's and mixed team events across age groups, as well as separate women's and men's competitions.
According to the Shooting Association of Maldives, the main purpose of holding such a competition open to the public is to further expand shooting sport in the Maldives and to train and promote young athletes.
