Ibrahim Nazeem, who was removed from his post as Managing Director of the Road Development Corporation (RDC), has been appointed as State Minister of the Sports Ministry, where he previously worked for many years.
Nazeem was removed from RDC yesterday because it has been decided to dissolve the company. Following his removal, the temporary running of the company has been entrusted to MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee, as RDC's work is scheduled to be transferred to MTCC in future.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced last September that RDC, established six years ago with the mandate to develop roads across the islands of Maldives, will be dissolved and its work moved under MTCC.
Nazeem worked in the Youth Ministry during the tenure of President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, holding various positions in the ministry for 17 years.
Nazeem is also currently serving as Vice President of Victory, one of the largest clubs in Maldives. He is also noted as South Asia's first international beach volleyball referee. After completing the beach volleyball international referee course in 1996, Nazeem was seen as a World Tour referee.
In addition to the Sports Ministry, in his official career Nazeem also held the post of State Minister of the Construction Ministry and Deputy Minister of the Housing Ministry.
