New Arabiyya School Facility to be Completed by December 2026

The government-funded construction of the new Al-Madhrasatul Arabiyyathul Islaamiyya, commonly known as Arabiyya School, is on track for completion by December 31, 2026. Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development, Dr. Ismail Shafeeu, announced the timeline during a site inspection led by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The project, contracted to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) in November 2024, involves the development of a modern eight-storey facility in a prime location within Malé. Once completed, the building will house state-of-the-art classrooms and educational resources designed to modernize the learning environment. Academic activities are scheduled to commence at the new site in 2027. The revitalization of Arabiyya School is a central pillar of the current administration's educational agenda. By transforming the institution into a premier center for Arabic-medium education, the government aims to fulfill a key presidential pledge to upgrade the school's infrastructure and academic capacity. During the site visit, President Muizzu engaged with current Arabiyya School students and several higher education students. The President listened to their aspirations and perspectives, reiterating the administration's commitment to prioritizing education and addressing student concerns to ensure a conducive learning environment. President Muizzu emphasized that the project must be executed to the highest standards and delivered on schedule. The move to the new premises is expected to significantly alleviate current space constraints and provide students with the modern amenities necessary for 21st-century learning.
