New Maldives Ambassador to UAE Vows to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

The Maldives and the United Arab Emirates have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations following the formal appointment of Thoriq Ibrahim as the Maldives' Ambassador to the UAE. Ambassador Thoriq officially began his tenure by presenting his Letter of Credence to UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during a formal ceremony held at Qasr Al Watan. During the meeting, President Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the new envoy and offered his congratulations, wishing him success in his diplomatic mission. As part of the proceedings, Ambassador Thoriq conveyed official greetings and best wishes from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the Maldivian government, and the people of the Maldives to the UAE's leadership and citizens. He emphasized his dedication to enhancing the longstanding friendship and expanding close cooperation between the two nations throughout his term. The diplomatic bond between the Maldives and the UAE dates back to March 15, 1978. Ambassador Thoriq is the seventh Maldivian representative to be accredited to the UAE, continuing a decades-long partnership characterized by stability and shared interests. For years, the two countries have maintained a robust relationship, collaborating across various sectors of mutual interest to promote economic and political growth. This latest diplomatic milestone signals a continued effort by the Muizzu administration to solidify strategic alliances within the Gulf region.
