New Policy Allows Male’ Residents with One-Room Flats to Apply for Other Housing Schemes
Politics ·
A new policy has been introduced permitting residents of Male’ who own one-room flats awarded under government housing schemes to apply for flats under other housing schemes, provided they surrender their existing flat. The updated regulation states that owners of one-room flats with children under 18 are eligible to apply for flats under other schemes. Similarly, owners of two-room flats with two children of different genders can also apply under the same conditions. This move comes in response to concerns raised by residents during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s recent meetings, highlighting the challenges of living in one-room flats. President Muizzu emphasized that such owners are eligible to apply for housing under the ‘Emmenah Boahiyaa Vehikan’ scheme launched on November 16th. The policy aims to address housing difficulties and improve living conditions for residents in Male’.
