The People's Majlis has dismissed the motion of no confidence against Minister of Economic Development and Tourism Mohamed Saeed. The motion, submitted by members of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) opposition, was rejected after 54 members voted in favor of the Minister's trust, while 10 members voted for no confidence. The motion was originally submitted last August. During today's session, Minister Saeed addressed allegations made by MDP members and highlighted his ministry's performance. He stated that under the current government, USD 1.9 billion has been released at official rates, compared to USD 1.75 million during the last three years of the previous government, representing a 97 percent increase in monthly dollar releases. Minister Saeed also noted that 313 foreign investments have been registered during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's tenure, calling it a record. He added that the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism is a model ministry in terms of transparency.
