Over 14,900 Disabled Maldivians Receive Financial Assistance in February

Over 14,900 people with disabilities received financial assistance in February 2026, according to new statistics from the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).
The statistics reveal that 14,993 beneficiaries with disabilities received support in February, representing an increase of 993 people compared to December 2025, when 14,000 individuals received assistance. The total number of registered persons with disabilities now stands at 15,280, including 62 new registrations recorded during the period.
Total assistance spending for the disability support programme reached approximately USD 3.5 million, underscoring the government's commitment to social protection for vulnerable populations.
In addition to disability support, the agency provided food assistance to 706 people, with six new beneficiaries added to the programme. Total spending in this sector amounted to around USD 1,690.
Under the support programme for children in care without parental assistance, financial aid was extended to 101 caregivers and 137 children. One new case was registered during the period, with total disbursements reaching USD 12,160.
The government has stated that social protection, equal opportunity, and dignity and security for vulnerable groups remain top priorities in national policy.
