Over 80 Percent of Hulhumale Phase Three Plot Recipients Receive Land

The Ministry of Housing, Infrastructure and Urban Development has handed over land to 560 recipients under the Hulhumale Phase Three allocation project. As of August 10, this represents approximately 80 percent of the total number of individuals allocated plots in the development area. The distribution process follows a significant revision of the Land Use Plan (LUP) for the region. These changes necessitated a redraw to determine the specific location of 698 allocated plots, which took place on December 20 last year. Following the redraw, the official handover process commenced on March 26. According to the Ministry, land is handed over upon the recipient's request for plot registration. The government is currently processing registrations to ensure legal documentation is finalized before the physical handover. Officials stated that work is ongoing to complete the distribution of the remaining plots as quickly as possible. The allocation includes a variety of plot sizes to accommodate different needs. The distribution consists of 181 plots of 1,650 square feet, 242 plots of 2,050 square feet, and 132 plots of 2,450 square feet. Larger plots include 62 units of 2,850 square feet, 41 units of 3,250 square feet, 16 units of 3,650 square feet, and 24 units of 4,000 square feet. This phase marks a shift in implementation strategy. While the previous administration's landowner scheme allocated land before the actual reclamation of the area, the current government is actively reclaiming 63 hectares of land in Hulhumale Phase Three to ensure plots are physically available for the recipients. Beyond the developments in Hulhumale, the Ministry of Housing confirmed that it is simultaneously continuing the process of handing over plots to recipients in Gulhifalhu, as part of the state's broader urban expansion and housing strategy.
