The Maldivian Parliament has approved the appointment of three ambassadors to key diplomatic posts, confirming President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's nominations after decisive parliamentary votes. Dr Hala Hameed received approval as non-resident Ambassador to Jordan with 63 votes in favor. Currently serving as Bilateral Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Hala brings extensive foreign service experience to the position. Dr Ibrahim Zuhuree was confirmed as non-resident Ambassador to Palestine with 62 supporting votes. As Additional Secretary at the Foreign Ministry, his diplomatic background prepares him for representing Maldivian interests in Palestinian relations. Former Cabinet Minister Ahmed Mahloof secured approval as Resident Ambassador to Japan with 60 parliamentary votes. The seasoned politician began his career under former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom's Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party before joining the Maldivian Democratic Party, where he served as Minister of Youth and Sports. Mahloof recently joined the ruling People's National Congress at a special rally held on November 14. The appointments strengthen Maldives' diplomatic presence in these nations, with two non-resident ambassadors maintaining their current Foreign Ministry positions while serving their ambassadorial roles.
