PayPal Launch via M-Faisaa Opens Global Markets for Maldivian Entrepreneurs
World ·
The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has welcomed the launch of PayPal services through Ooredoo’s M-Faisaa platform, describing the move as a pivotal milestone for the Maldives' small businesses, exporters, and self-employed entrepreneurs.
Unveiled during a ceremony attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the integration of PayPal into the M-Faisaa e-wallet is designed to catalyze the nation's digital economy. The service allows local merchants to accept secure international payments, removing a long-standing barrier to marketing Maldivian products to a global audience.
During the event, President Muizzu urged state institutions to continue identifying and removing bureaucratic hurdles facing entrepreneurs. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a robust digital landscape that empowers local businesses to scale and compete internationally.
BCC expressed gratitude for the government's proactive policies, noting that the ability to conduct seamless cross-border commerce was previously a distant vision for many small-scale operators. By bridging the gap between local production and international buyers, the new gateway is expected to diversify revenue streams for home-grown brands.
The corporation is now calling on all Maldivian manufacturers and entrepreneurs to actively leverage the PayPal gateway. By expanding their reach beyond domestic borders, the BCC believes local businesses can significantly contribute to the overall financial prosperity of the nation.
PayPal, now accessible via the M-Faisaa app, provides a streamlined interface for sending and receiving funds online. This technical upgrade transforms the operational capacity of local artisans and exporters, allowing them to transition from local sales to a global e-commerce model with minimal friction.
