People's Majlis approves Maldives Government's 2026 budget proposal

The People's Majlis has said that the draft budget proposal for 2026 of the Government of Maldives was approved at a meeting held on 11 January at 15:00. The People's Majlis stated that the proposal was approved in accordance with the rules and procedures prescribed for the approval of the budget proposal. The People's Majlis has stated that the 2026 draft budget proposal was approved after it was submitted by the Government of Maldives. It said the draft proposal was passed in accordance with the Government Budget Law and the procedures of the People's Majlis. The People's Majlis said the draft budget proposal provides for 30 proposals, and that payments and procedures connected with the budget will be carried out in accordance with the approved schedule. It said related submissions will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and that the procedures prescribed by the People's Majlis will be followed. The People's Majlis stated that the report and recommendations connected with the draft budget proposal were considered before approval. It said the provisions and amendments included in the draft proposal were approved according to the recommendations made and the rules of the People's Majlis. The People's Majlis said the approved budget proposal will be implemented in accordance with the law and that the necessary follow-up will be carried out by the relevant authorities.
