PG Office Drops Case Against Former HDC MD Fazul Over Alleged Document Deletion Due to Lack of Evidence
Local News ·
The Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office has decided not to pursue charges against former Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and the corporation’s Head of IT, Abdulla Shuhood, who were suspected of deleting company documents. The decision was made due to insufficient evidence. According to the PG Office, the case was declined because there was not enough evidence or corroborating material to support a criminal conviction. The allegations stemmed from a police search related to the illegal allocation of land to Fazul’s brother, Mohamed Fazil Rasheed, during which suspicions arose that documents had been deleted from the computer system used by Fazul. However, an audit of the HDC server found no documents were missing or deleted, and the police investigation also found no evidence supporting the alleged crime. The PG Office confirmed that no evidence was found to support the allegations against either individual.
