PNC PG Leader Falahu Accuses Former MDP Government of Destroying Maldives' Economic Industries

The leader of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) Parliamentary Group and Inguraidhoo constituency MP, Ibrahim Falahu, has stated that the previous Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) government destroyed the Maldives' economic industries.
Falahu made these remarks while speaking during the debate on a motion submitted by opposition MDP MP for Galolhu Dhekunu constituency, Mikaeel Ahmed Naseem, calling for the details of the 'Rasmala' agreement to be revealed.
Falahu said there is very strong support from the PNC's 73 MPs for the 'Rasmala' project. "There is very strong support for the 'Eagle Hills' project from the 73 PNC MPs; there has never been an issue with such strong support from PNC MPs recently," he said.
Falahu noted that with 18 billion dollars being invested in the Rasmala project, studies indicate this is an investment larger than what has been seen in the tourism sector over the past 50 years. "With such a large investment taking place in the Maldives, we the people can travel to a level of countries like Dubai and Singapore, which have achieved special successes in development, and the people of the Maldives can live in happiness and comfort," he said.
However, Falahu stated that the MDP does not want what is good for the Maldivian people, nor for the people to earn anything, nor for them to be happy.
Referring to the MDP members' comments, Falahu said that in the last presidential election, the people rejected the then-MDP government because projects were initiated without allocating the necessary funds for their completion in the budget. He added that projects were started without even 10 percent of the required funds being included in the budget.
Falahu also said that the MDP government had destroyed the fishing, agriculture, and tourism industries of the Maldives.
