Police Club defeats Armed Forces to win National Volleyball League title after 7 years

Sports ·
The Police Club defeated the Maldives Armed Forces Club in straight sets in the final of the National Volleyball League, winning the championship in the volleyball season for the first time in seven years. The last victory achieved by the Police Club was in the 2019 National League. Since then, the team has not won any of the three major volleyball season tournaments over the past seven years. The Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) had initially scheduled the final of the national tournament to be held on Monday night. However, citing that matches need to be played close together, VAM decided to play the tournament final on Tuesday night. The Armed Forces were the most affected by this change. The Armed Forces entered the final without their foreign players. This was because the foreign players had departed on Tuesday as they were required to participate in another tournament. When the Armed Forces played this match, besides the foreign players, two important team members, Adam Fareed and setter Hussain Shahid, also did not play. The Police Club won this match in straight sets. The sets of the match went 25-11, 25-18, and 25-20. The best players of this tournament were Andrey Vasilyenko, Ali Maroof, Ahmed Naifu from the Police Club, and Ahmed Nabeel from the Maldives Armed Forces Club. The best coach was Nasrullah Thoha, the coach of the Police.
