Police Commissioner Calls for Public Unity to Ensure a Low-Crime Society

Police Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed has reaffirmed the Maldives Police Service’s commitment to safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and fostering a peaceful, low-crime society. The announcement came in a video message issued to commemorate the Maldives’ 61st Independence Day. Addressing the nation, the Commissioner emphasized that the independence the Maldives enjoys today was secured through the immense sacrifices of previous generations. He stressed that the duty to protect this legacy is no longer the burden of a few, but a shared responsibility resting with every Maldivian citizen. Commissioner Mohamed urged the public to collaborate closely with law enforcement to establish a more secure environment. He noted that while the police remain dedicated to maintaining order and protecting the state, the active participation of the community is essential for sustainable peace. Special emphasis was placed on the role of the youth in nation-building. The Commissioner highlighted that young people carry a particularly significant responsibility in shaping the future trajectory of the country, urging them to contribute positively to the social fabric.
