Police Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed has traveled to Egypt on an official mission to strengthen security cooperation and expand joint initiatives between the two nations. Organized by the Consulate General of Maldives in Cairo, the visit takes place from May 17 to 21. A central component of the trip is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to formalize collaborations on critical security matters and enhance strategies for combatting cross-border crimes. During the mission, Commissioner Mohamed will engage in high-level discussions with senior officials from Egypt’s National Security Sector (NSS). These talks aim to align security protocols and share intelligence to better address transnational threats. In addition to diplomatic meetings, the Commissioner's itinerary includes site visits to Egyptian rehabilitation centers, correctional facilities, and specialized police training academies. These visits are intended to provide the Maldives Police Service with insights into international best practices for inmate management and officer development. The Maldives Police Service stated that the visit is expected to deepen the institutional bond between the agency and the Egyptian Interior Ministry. By establishing a closer working relationship, both countries intend to increase cooperation regarding legislative frameworks and security policies that impact their mutual interests.
