Police Name Four Suspects in Theft of MVR 63,000 and USD 21,000 from Bank Account

The Maldives Police Service has made public the identities of four individuals arrested in connection with the theft of MVR 63,000 and USD 21,000 from a person's bank account. The suspects allegedly used deception to obtain an OTP code and gain access to the account. Those arrested are Ibrahim Sharif (34), from South Male’, Dhoodigandu / Goldengate; Jina Ahmed (29), from North Felihe / Matiresmaa; Ibrahim Muaz (38), from North Nilandhe / Nazum; and Ali Daain (21), from Laamu Atoll, Gan, Mathimarandu / Lilinaithey. Three of the suspects were arrested on October 28, and the fourth on October 29. The court has ordered all four to be detained for 15 days. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
