Police will not neglect any legal responsibility, says Commissioner
Politics ·
Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed has stated that the police will not neglect any responsibility mandated by law, regardless of operational priorities. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the new police center in Kumundhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed emphasized that the quality of police service depends not merely on the number of officers, but on working with the community within established principles, with compassion and wisdom. He noted that previously, police services in islands were often delivered from council offices or rented spaces, but the government has now initiated a project to build permanent, modern police centers on police-owned land. The Commissioner thanked President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for prioritizing the infrastructural development of the police, and also expressed gratitude to Home Minister Ali Ihsan for his close oversight and support of police development projects. While acknowledging that Kumundhoo is generally a low-crime island, Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed urged the officers stationed there to remain vigilant and work diligently to maintain public safety, assuring that police will not neglect any legal responsibility even when focusing on specific operations.
