The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Energy has started preparations to develop the 'Hura Nature Park' in Hura, Kaafu Atoll. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu decided to establish at least one nature park in every atoll, and Hura was among 10 islands selected after proposals were evaluated. A team from the Ministry and the Environmental Regulatory Authority (ERA) visited Hura to discuss the park concept and inspect the protected area. During the visit, information boards for the protected area were handed over to the island's council. The ministry stated the trip aims to strengthen the management of the protected area, protect the environment, and increase public awareness. The government has already developed nature parks in Addu City and Fuvahmulah City, which are contributing to tourism and the economy.
