President announces dissolution of Malé City Group of Hospitals, formation of Maldives Tertiary Hospitals

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced the decision to dissolve the Malé City Group of Hospitals and establish a new group under the name "Maldives Tertiary Hospitals." The announcement was made during the 'Nation Chat' program, where the President emphasized that developing the health sector is a key policy of the government. He stated that the upcoming budget will include measures to strengthen the health sector and expand the hospitals currently grouped together in Malé. The new group will bring all tertiary hospitals in the country under one vision and a single system, aiming to eliminate redundancies, increase operational efficiency, and improve service quality. The President noted that hospitals can be linked within three to four months starting from next November, and clarified that the project does not involve hiring additional staff. Procedures will be established to fully utilize the services of government-funded doctors and to attract top-tier specialist foreign doctors to provide services in specialized fields.
