President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured the public that the eco city project, developed in collaboration with the UAE's Eagle Hills company, will not include any gambling, liquor sales, or casinos. The President made this statement during the state media's 'National Chat' programme, emphasizing that even after the waterfront and marina project in Malé is completed and operational, such activities will not be permitted. The President, addressing concerns, highlighted that the Malé project will be fully transparent and conducted for the benefit and interest of citizens, with nothing kept secret. The government has stated that this large-scale project will create housing opportunities and provide numerous economic benefits to Maldivian citizens. Eagle Hills, owned by renowned businessman Mohammed Alabbar, plans to develop Malé into a complete 'eco city' featuring modern infrastructure and key resources for tourism and business.
