President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured the public that nothing undesirable will occur in the area where Holiday Homes are being developed by Eagle Hills of the UAE in Malé. Speaking on the PSM program 'Nation Chat', the President stated that the investment is entirely beneficial for the people and that opposition entities have attempted to misrepresent the project without sincere intentions. The President revealed plans to send a special bill related to Real Estate Tourism to the People's Majlis, which will be open for public consultation for two to three weeks. The complete agreement for the project will also be sent to the Majlis for review by a standing committee. He elaborated that regulations in the area will be stricter than in resorts, with no sale of alcohol or coconuts, no casino, and no eating or drinking on the streets during Ramadan. A mosque will be present, and no foreign-controlled educational institutions will operate there. Maldivian police will be stationed, and the Constitution and laws of the country will apply. The President stated that no citizen of any country will be allowed to sell more than 25 percent of property there, but there will be no limit for Maldivians. Through passport checks and CVC, everyone will be screened, and no Israeli citizen will be allowed to purchase, rent, or even stay for a day. He also spoke about the development of Malé, noting that the project will facilitate infrastructure for electricity, water, and sewage, enabling the complete development of Malé within 10 years. Plots will be secured for eligible applicants, and the government will build 5,000 housing units in Hulhumalé using part of the investment, with priority for young people and workers from sectors like resorts and fishing.
