President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that the Rasmalé development project, implemented by the UAE's Eagle Hills company, will not lead to any undesirable acts and that the agreement with the company will be shared with the People's Majlis. He stated that a bill to create a special law related to real estate and tourism will be sent to the Majlis, which will generally open it for public opinion. The President also said the agreement will be sent to the relevant parliamentary committee. He emphasized that full control of the project will remain with the Maldivian government, and that it will benefit Maldivians in many ways. He dismissed concerns raised by political entities, stating that the project involves no casinos and will include mosques and calls to prayer. The President also announced that Israeli citizens will be prohibited by law from finding or buying any place in the Maldives Marine and Water Front being developed in Rasmalé. He noted that citizens of one country can buy up to 25 percent of the properties in Rasmalé, and that selling or renting to Israeli citizens will be entirely prohibited.
