Politics ·
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured citizens that the Maldives Waterfront and Marina project, which the government has decided to entrust to Abu Dhabi-based Eagle Hills for implementation in Hulhumale’, is not a cause for concern and will be beneficial to the public. Speaking during the sixth episode of the “Nation Chat” podcast series by Public Service Media (PSM), the President said the government would introduce a special bill to the People’s Majlis to regulate real estate projects like the Eagle Hills project. He noted that while work on the bill is underway, the Majlis would seek opinions and consultations from citizens across a broad spectrum. The President also stated that he would send the agreement between Eagle Hills and the government to a permanent committee determined by the Majlis, emphasizing that sending the agreement to the Majlis means sharing it with the people. He assured that no plots of land will be sold, no villas or hotels will be built, and a mosque will be established where the five daily prayers will be called. He added that he pays no attention to statements made by certain political leaders to mislead the public, and he wished to clarify right from wrong for citizens who seek the truth.
