President Declares May 24 and 25 as Government Holidays for Eid al-Adha

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has declared Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25, as government holidays in observance of the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations. The decision aims to provide civil servants with an extended, uninterrupted break to spend quality time with their families during one of the most significant religious festivals in the Maldives. The announcement from the President’s Office confirms that these additional holidays will bridge the gap leading into the primary Eid festivities. This year, the Day of Hajj is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, with Eid al-Adha officially observed on Wednesday, May 27. By designating these dates as holidays, the administration seeks to ensure that government employees can fully engage in traditional holiday customs and family gatherings without the disruption of a fragmented work week.
