President Forms Special Committee to Lead National Initiative Promoting Respect

The Government of Maldives has established a special coordinating committee under the President to manage the upcoming national initiative aimed at promoting respect across the archipelago. The move comes as the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage enters the final stages of preparation for the campaign's official launch. The nine-member committee consists of representatives from key ministries and state institutions to ensure a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach. The team includes officials from the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage, the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, the Ministry of Defence and National Service, and the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development. Other members represent the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises, the Ministry of Health, Family and Social Development, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Wellbeing, and Public Service Media (PSM). During its inaugural meeting, the committee outlined its strategic role in driving the initiative and discussed the operational measures necessary for a nationwide rollout. Members focused on fostering collaboration between various government bodies to ensure the campaign's goals are met effectively across all administrative levels. The initiative follows a directive from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to instill a culture of respect within Maldivian society. As part of the branding process, the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage has already opened public submissions for the campaign's official logo. To maximize the project's reach, the government is actively engaging all societal sectors and has secured formal agreements with media organizations to ensure wide visibility and public participation. The national initiative will be launched under the slogan “Ihuthiraamuge Ufaa – Mujuthama'uge Nafaa,” reflecting the government's commitment to social harmony and mutual respect.
