President Muizzu Affirms PNC Policy to Uphold Islam and National Identity

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed that the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) is committed to a governing policy rooted in the preservation of Islam and the Maldives' national identity. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the PNC Congress 2026, the President emphasized that every action taken by the party and the administration is guided by these core principles. He stated that since taking office, the government has consistently worked to align its policies with the spiritual and cultural values of the Maldivian people. During his address, President Muizzu contrasted the PNC’s approach with that of previous administrations. He criticized past governments led by opposing parties, alleging they were driven by "destructive ideologies" that compromised the nation's stability. He argued that the country’s progress is best secured under the PNC, asserting that the party remains dedicated to serving the people's wishes and prioritizing national interests over political agendas. The President also highlighted the social impact of prolonged political turmoil, noting a decline in traditional customs and the erosion of mutual respect. He specifically condemned attempts to discredit national leaders, describing such attacks as contrary to both Islamic teachings and Maldivian cultural norms. Urging citizens to analyze the differences between competing political ideologies, President Muizzu defined the PNC’s platform as one built on justice, fairness, sincerity, and accountability. He called for cooperation from those who prioritize the nation's welfare above all else. Addressing the administration's broader reform agenda, the President noted that the government inherited a challenging economic and social landscape. He highlighted ongoing efforts to stabilize the economy through debt repayment, the protection of political freedoms, and a strengthened crackdown on crime and corruption.
