President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed visited the Thalassaemia and Other Haemoglobinopathies Centre at Orange Hiyaa in Hulhumalé to review the facility's operations and patient services. Operating in collaboration with Maldivian Blood Services (MBS), the centre provides critical specialized care for patients with blood disorders. During the visit, the President and First Lady toured the patient wards, blood donor facilities, and the laboratory, while spending time at the Thalassaemia Patient Care Centre to understand the day-to-day challenges faced by those receiving treatment. The First Couple received detailed updates on the range of services currently provided by the facility. This visit underscores the administration's ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for Maldivians living with thalassaemia and other haemoglobinopathies. Since taking office, President Muizzu's administration has prioritized the strengthening of healthcare services, the expansion of infrastructure, and the provision of financial assistance for those affected by these chronic conditions. The President has repeatedly emphasized that the government holds a fundamental responsibility to ensure comprehensive healthcare and robust social protection for both the patients and their families. Upon their arrival, the President and First Lady were received by the Minister of Health, Family and Welfare, Geela Ali, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Male’ City Group of Hospitals, Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem. Chief Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef also accompanied the delegation during the tour of the facility.
