President Muizzu Announces Dollar Access for SMEs and Tax-Free Zones at Raajje Export 2026

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that starting next month, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be able to receive US dollars for international transactions through the Bank of Maldives Gateway. The announcement was made at the opening ceremony of 'Raajje Export 2026'. The President also revealed plans to establish special tax-free zones for SMEs, with a three-year pilot project beginning in Addu City from next year. Additionally, import duties on raw materials will be removed from next year. The second phase of the 1 billion rufiyaa loan scheme for young entrepreneurs is scheduled to begin in November.
