President Muizzu Appoints Ahmed Mamdhooh as Vice President of Employment Tribunal

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Ahmed Mamdhooh as the Vice President of the Employment Tribunal. The appointment was formalized during a special ceremony held at the President's Office, where Mamdhooh took the official oath of office. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Justice Aisha Shujune Muhammad, marking the beginning of Mamdhooh's tenure in this key judicial role responsible for overseeing labor disputes and employment regulations. Mamdhooh brings a diverse background in administration and public service to the tribunal. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka, providing him with the academic foundation necessary for managing the complex legal and administrative frameworks of the tribunal. His professional trajectory includes significant leadership roles within the Maldivian government. He previously served as the Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Economic Development, where he gained experience in national economic policy and regulatory oversight. Further enhancing his executive experience, Mamdhooh served as both the Deputy Managing Director and the Acting Managing Director of the Road Development Corporation (RDC). This role placed him at the helm of one of the state's critical infrastructure entities, overseeing large-scale developmental projects. Most recently, before his appointment to the tribunal, Mamdhooh contributed his expertise as a consultant for several strategic projects undertaken by the Malé City Council. His transition to the Employment Tribunal is expected to leverage this combination of legislative, corporate, and local government experience to ensure fair and efficient adjudication of employment matters across the Maldives.
