President Muizzu Appoints Amjad Musthafa to Lead the Employment Tribunal

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Amjad Musthafa as the president of the Employment Tribunal, marking a return to leadership for the veteran legal professional. The appointment was formalized during a ceremony at the President's Office, where Musthafa took the oath of office. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Justice Abdulla Hameed, following which President Muizzu presented the official letter of appointment. Musthafa brings a blend of legal and administrative expertise to the role. He holds a bachelor's degree in Shari'a and Law, complemented by a Master of Business Administration (MBA), providing him with the multidisciplinary background required to navigate complex employment disputes. His career spans extensive work across the legal and public administration sectors in the Maldives. Notably, Musthafa has previously contributed to national labor policy as a member of the Minimum Wage Advisory Board, where he helped shape the frameworks governing worker compensation. This appointment is a homecoming of sorts for Musthafa, who previously served as the president of the Employment Tribunal in 2020. His prior experience leading the body is expected to provide stability and continuity in the adjudication of labor relations and employment disputes across the archipelago.
