President Muizzu Appoints Jameela Ali Khalid as Maldives Ambassador to United Kingdom

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially appointed Jameela Ali Khalid as the Maldives’ ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The appointment was finalized during a ceremony held at the President’s Office. The appointment follows a formal process in accordance with the Maldives Foreign Service Act. After the President submitted Jameela’s nomination to the Majlis (the Maldivian Parliament), members of the house reviewed her credentials and unanimously approved her selection for the diplomatic post. Jameela Ali Khalid brings a wealth of diplomatic and administrative experience to the role. She previously served as the Maldives’ ambassador to Germany and held the position of Vice President of the Civil Service Commission, establishing a strong track record in international relations and public administration. The vacancy in London was created after the previous ambassador, Iruthisham Adam, was elevated to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs by President Muizzu. As the Maldives continues to strengthen its bilateral ties with the UK, Jameela's extensive background in foreign affairs is expected to play a critical role in managing diplomatic engagement and representing Maldivian interests in one of its most significant international partnerships.
