President Muizzu Appoints Two New Principal Secretaries to President’s Office

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Mohamed Tholal and Ahmed Habeeb to ministerial-rank positions within the President’s Office, strengthening the administration's executive oversight of health services and policy implementation. Mohamed Tholal has been appointed as the Principal Secretary to the President for Tertiary Health Services. A seasoned public servant, Tholal brings a diverse administrative background to the role. He previously served as the Commissioner of Sports and held high-level positions including Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Director General at the Elections Commission. Tholal's professional trajectory also includes serving as a Senior Curriculum Developer at the Education Development Centre and as a Technical Advisor to the Minister at the Ministry of Human Resources, Youth and Sports. He is widely recognized for his contributions to the development and advancement of the sports sector in the Maldives. Joining the executive team as Principal Secretary to the President on Policy and Manifesto is Ahmed Habeeb. Habeeb is expected to leverage his experience in both the public and private sectors to drive the government's strategic agenda. He previously served as the State Minister at the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure. In the private sector, Habeeb held leadership roles within the Villa Group, serving as the General Manager of Villa Air and Manager at Villa Hakatha. He also served as the Deputy Manager of Villa Air's Kaadedhdhoo Airport. Habeeb holds a Master of Science in Project Management from Curtin University in Australia, bringing specialized academic expertise to the management of the administration's manifesto goals.
