During the official Victory Day ceremony held at Republic Square, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated that just as the Maldivian nation was liberated from the servitude of weapons, it must also be saved from the servitude of debt and economic independence must be established. He emphasized that building a robust economy that does not require begging for support is vital to ensure the country's sovereignty and independence. The President highlighted that the most fundamental pillar in providing citizens with a robust, honorable and happy life is the establishment of the country's economic independence. He reminded that a nation can protect its own language, religion and ways only by establishing an economy that does not need to beg for support. President Muizzu highlighted the efforts being undertaken by the government to save the country from the fear of being mortgaged, stop the reckless squandering of money, and repay and clear the state's debts. He expressed confidence that foreign troops have been sent away from the Maldives and that efforts to recover lost maritime areas have begun in international arenas. The President also noted that the military capability of the national defense force is advancing rapidly. He reminded that 38 years have passed since the November 3 terrorist attack, and that two new generations who did not witness this incident are meeting us, calling for attention to their responsibilities and duties. He called on everyone to work together to free the nation from the servitude of debt and to provide a safe Maldives for future generations, urging citizens to set aside political passions and personal ambitions for a debt-free, robust and happy future.
