President Muizzu Calls for National Interest Over Destructive Political Ideologies

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has asserted that destructive ideologies have no place in the Maldives when national interests are prioritized over partisan gain. Speaking at a People's National Congress (PNC) rally in Ukulhas, Alif Alif Atoll, the President emphasized that the stability of the nation depends on a collective shift toward a mindset focused on national benefit. According to the President, a cornerstone of his administration's commitment is the restoration of peace and stability across the archipelago. He stated that his government's primary policy is to move away from the cycle of "revenge politics," urging a transition toward governance that serves the broader public good rather than political retribution. President Muizzu argued that while putting the country first is essential for progress, this principle is currently lacking in the Maldivian political landscape. He accused certain political factions of prioritizing personal and party interests over the wellbeing of the state, claiming that some groups are actively attempting to disrupt national peace to further their own agendas. Addressing the public directly, the President cautioned citizens against attempts by the opposition to create unrest. He urged the population to recognize these tactics, draw lessons from the country's political history, and make informed judgments to protect the nation's harmony. Reflecting on previous administrations, President Muizzu called for an evidence-based examination of past actions. He urged both citizens and political leaders to embrace personal responsibility and cultivate a national mindset, arguing that this is the only viable path to ensure the Maldives' long-term progress and stability.
