President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called for prioritizing national security, prosperity, and the happiness of every Maldivian over political animosity and jealousy. Speaking at the official Victory Day ceremony held last night at Jubooree Maidhaan, the President emphasized that as the 40th anniversary of the Victory Day incident approaches, history should not be forgotten, and national loyalty must be placed above political emotions. He also stated that group responsibility must be prioritized over personal grievances. The President noted that when he first addressed the public on November 17, 2023, he emphasized saving the country's economy from a deep crisis and rescuing the state from its debt records. He said the country has been saved from warnings of bankruptcy, and the tradition of taking on debt irresponsibly has ended, with borrowed funds being repaid. As a result, foreign investor trust is increasing. The President stated that just as the country was freed from weapon servitude, it must also be freed from debt servitude. Highlighting national diplomacy and defense matters, the President said an external policy serving the country's interests has been established, and foreign soldiers stationed in the Maldives have been sent away. He also mentioned retrieving a letter regarding surrendering a large area of the Great Sea within the country's diplomatic power and beginning work on necessary international efforts. He noted that the capability of the national defense force is being enhanced in all respects. Emphasizing equal importance given to material and spiritual development, the President stated that under the initiative called "Dhivehi Wathanee Hizbuth," more than 1,000 youth are currently undergoing training to build the nation's mindset, with several hundred more entering the job market with skills. The President assured that no action would be taken that would undermine any national pillar such as 100 percent Islamism, complete independence, or sovereignty.
