President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urged the nation to carry the spiritual discipline of Ramadan forward, emphasizing that worship should not end with the holy month. In his Eid al-Fitr address to the nation, he framed the celebration as a time for gratitude for Allah's mercy and for the ability to have fasted, engaged in remembrance, recited the Quran, and given charity.
The President highlighted that Ramadan imparts crucial lessons for both body and soul, including practicing good speech and deeds, maintaining unity within the Muslim community, and exercising patience. He advised adhering to Islamic principles during Eid celebrations and avoiding actions contrary to religious teachings.
Connecting Ramadan, Eid, and the six voluntary fasts of Shawwaal, President Muizzu stated this sequence reflects Islam's call for consistency in worship. He encouraged citizens to remain committed to righteous actions throughout the entire year.
Broadening his focus, the President expressed deep concern for the global Muslim Ummah, particularly highlighting the suffering of Palestinians and others in the Middle East. He reminded listeners that Muslims are like one body, sharing in each other's pain, and concluded with prayers for the peace, security, dignity, and strength of Muslims worldwide.
