In a televised program, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has clarified that foreign nationals from any single country will only be able to purchase up to 25% of the properties being developed by Eagle Hills at Rasmalé. The President made the remarks during the program ‘The Pulse’, in response to a question about whether foreign buyers of the property could obtain Maldivian citizenship. He stated that Maldivian citizenship laws are clearly defined and that the properties will not be limited to one nationality. The President announced that a real estate law will be introduced soon, which will explicitly cap the proportion of properties that can be owned by any single nationality at 25%, and will explicitly prohibit Israeli citizens from purchasing or owning any property in the Maldives. President Muizzu also confirmed that Maldivian citizens will face no such limits and will be able to purchase all properties in the development if they wish.
