President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated 343 young Maldivians upon completing the initial phase of the National Service Programme. The second batch of graduates represents a diverse cross-section of the country, hailing from 112 different islands.
According to details shared by the President, the cohort consists of 280 men and 63 women. Notably, the programme continues to attract a younger demographic, with 113 graduates under the age of 18 successfully completing the rigorous training. The graduation ceremony took place today, marking the end of a three-month intensive training period that commenced on January 31.
The completion of initial training serves as a gateway to further specialization. Selected graduates will now have the opportunity to pursue advanced technical training at the National Patriotic Service Technical and Vocational Centre located in Kihaadhoo, Baa Atoll. This transition aims to bridge the gap between basic service and professional skill acquisition.
For those not selected for the vocational track, the government has committed to providing active assistance in securing employment. The administration stated that job placement support will be tailored to the individual preferences and strengths of the graduates, ensuring the programme yields tangible economic benefits for the participants.
Launched by President Muizzu, the National Service Programme is designed as a foundational pillar for youth development. Its primary objective is to instill a stronger sense of national spirit, discipline, and Islamic values among the younger generation, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to the Maldives' social and economic stability.
