President Muizzu Congratulates First 63 Graduates of National Service Technical Programme

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated the first 63 youths to graduate from the National Service Technical Programme, marking a milestone for the government's new vocational training initiative. In a message shared on social media, the President praised the achievements of the graduates and expressed gratitude to the parents, educators, and personnel from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and the Ministry of Defense and National Service for their roles in the programme's success. The inaugural cohort, consisting of students aged 17 to 19, completed an intensive four-month training regimen at the MNDF School of Engineering and Logistics in Kihaadhoo, Baa Atoll. The graduates had originally enrolled in December last year, joining a project designed to transform the career trajectories of Maldivian youth through hands-on technical experience. More than just a skill-acquisition course, the National Service Technical Training Programme is a strategic government effort to foster a patriotic and resilient generation. By immersing students in professional work environments and equipping them with practical competencies, the initiative aims to produce a workforce that is mentally and spiritually prepared for the demands of the national economy. The programme is already seeing a surge in demand. Officials have confirmed that a second batch, consisting of 75 additional youths, is scheduled to begin training on the first of next month. This increase in enrollment reflects growing confidence among families and young Maldivians in the programme's ability to provide viable professional pathways. As the initiative expands, it stands as a cornerstone of the administration's commitment to youth empowerment, blending disciplined military-led logistics with essential vocational training to bridge the gap between education and employment.
