World ·
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended his congratulations to Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri following her appointment as the first female prime minister of Morocco. In a formal message, the President characterized the appointment as a historic milestone, not only for Morocco but for the broader Arab world.
Ms. El Mansouri is only the second woman in the Arab world to ascend to such a high-ranking executive position. President Muizzu noted that her leadership serves as a significant example of female empowerment and acts as an inspiration for women globally who seek roles in governance and public service.
Taking the opportunity to highlight domestic priorities, President Muizzu reaffirmed the Maldives' own commitment to advancing women's rights and increasing their participation in public life and decision-making processes.
The appointment comes after Ms. El Mansouri’s Authenticity and Modernity Party secured the largest number of seats in Morocco’s recent parliamentary elections. She was officially appointed by King Mohammed VI on September 29 and has been tasked with the responsibility of forming a new government.
Beyond the celebration of this leadership milestone, President Muizzu emphasized the enduring and friendly relations between the Maldives and Morocco. He described the bilateral bond as one built on a foundation of mutual respect and cooperation.
The President expressed his eagerness to collaborate with the new Prime Minister to further strengthen ties between the two nations for their mutual benefit. He concluded his message by wishing Ms. El Mansouri success in her tenure and in her efforts to foster progress and prosperity for the Moroccan people.
