President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has dismissed as false and fear-mongering the opposition's claims that the Rasmale' project, developed by the UAE's Eagle Hills, would accommodate Israeli residents. Speaking on a podcast from the President's Office called "The False," Muizzu stated that only Maldivian citizens and Arab Muslims would reside in the new city. He emphasised that under current law, Israeli passport holders are banned from acquiring any property in the Maldives, including in Rasmale'. The President accused opposition parties of spreading baseless rumours for political gain, aiming to instil fear among the public. He noted that interested buyers so far are from Gulf and Arab countries. Muizzu reiterated that the government's National Identity Project will safeguard Maldivian culture and identity, and such protections will be visible when laws are submitted to Parliament.
