President Muizzu Empowers Utheemu Students to Lead Maldives' Future Development

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has asserted that the future trajectory of the Maldives rests in the hands of its students, emphasizing that youth perspectives are fundamental to national progress. The President shared these views during a visit to Utheemu in Haa Alif Atoll, accompanied by the First Lady, as part of the official National Day celebrations. Addressing the students, President Muizzu stated that government policies are rooted in active listening and a commitment to addressing the concerns of the youth effectively. He described the ideas and feelings shared by students as extremely valuable, pledging that their voices would be taken seriously in the government's decision-making processes. The President also highlighted the success of the National Service Programme, noting it as a key opportunity for youth empowerment. Despite a current capacity to train approximately 1,000 young people annually, the programme has seen overwhelming demand, with applications consistently doubling the available slots. During the interactive session, Utheemu students raised critical infrastructure concerns regarding their school. They highlighted the absence of a multipurpose hall, which severely limits indoor activities. While acknowledging that no budget had been previously allocated for the project, President Muizzu provided a firm assurance that the facility would be constructed. Students further requested the installation of artificial turf for recreational activities, noting that the island council has already designated a suitable plot of land for the purpose. In contrast to these needs, students expressed gratitude for the Cool Schools Project, which has provided air-conditioning to Utheemu School, significantly improving their learning environment. Closing the meeting, President Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the issues raised by the students. He expressed his desire for more frequent engagements with the youth, stressing that the current generation of students are the primary architects who will lead the Maldives on the right path in the coming years.
