President Muizzu Establishes Maldives Digital Service to Drive Digital Transformation
Politics ·
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially established the Maldives Digital Service under the administrative oversight of the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology. This decision follows the abolishment of the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT). The move was enacted under Article 116(a) of the Constitution and communicated via a directive from the President's Office. The establishment of the Maldives Digital Service aligns with the Cabinet's discussions on 25 September 2025 regarding the Digital-First Nation vision. The agency will serve as the primary executive body responsible for implementing the Maldives 2.0 Roadmap 2025–2028: Journey to Digital Transformation. The Maldives Digital Service will assume all responsibilities previously handled by the NCIT while spearheading the execution of the roadmap. The number 1137 has been designated for official correspondence with the agency as per the Presidential Directive.
