Politics ·
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established the Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency under the authority granted by Article 116(a) of the Constitution. The agency, created in accordance with Section 38(a) of the Maldives Sports Act, will operate under the administrative oversight of the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation. This decision was formalized through a Presidential Directive issued today. While the ministry will oversee its administration, the agency will be governed by an independent board responsible for implementing anti-doping measures. The establishment follows the ratification of the First Amendment to the Maldives Sports Act on 19 May 2025 and aims to ensure fair play within the Maldives' sporting sector. The agency has been assigned the official correspondence number 1138.
